IS ANYONE OUT THERE USING SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE AS A REPLENISHING AGENT FOR CUPRIC ETCHES?

AM LOOKING FOR A SAFER AND MORE MANAGEABLE METHOD OF GETTING THE BATH STRENGTH UP WITHOUT USING THE HIGHLY TOXIC CHLORINE GAS.

We use 50% hydrogen peroxide instead of chlorine gas or sodium hypochlorite. It gets you out of the toxicity concerns; however it adds the concern of a strong oxidizer. If you have more than 50 gallons of 50% peroxide in a closed container (or >10 gallons in an open container) you could also change your building occupancy code, if you are not already an H3.

Do you have any information for sodium chlorate as an source of chorine in cupric etching? At Pacific Circuits we have used this for many years in power and liquid. If I can help call me at 360 757-7474 (Rhidian Grant)
