Chrome Plating Temperature

Q. Good morning, We are designing a part that needs resist a temperature between 600°C - 1200°C.  It's posible to make the part in steel and use chrome plating to cover it?  it's possible to resist this temperature for the chrome plating?

A. Although the melting point of chromium is relatively high (1,900 C), the typical service use limit is much lower, about 400 oC.  A temperature range of 600 to 1,200 oC would be much too high.
